Profound moments in nature such as plant bursting into bloom or a moth emerging from its cocoon, are known as 'phenological' events. The naturalists here at the Preserve have been observing & recording these and other naturally occurring events such as mating habits, blooming & migration patterns, and weather, land & habitat transformation for over 100 years. Partnering with IBM, we have mapped 100 of the more than 1400 species of flora & fauna that inhabit the Preserve to these special events in an interactive timeline for your further explorations of nature both in and out of the classroom.
